I am so very excited to start this tomorrow, for once I will really enjoy getting on the scales to see what I am at to start this challange.
Good luck to everyone

Hey Ben, what a great challenge!! Have decided to give it a go myself even though my weight and measurements are most certainly going to grow each week as opposed to shrinking. My transformation is going to be my commitment to living the lifestyle, and feeling better. If that means when this baby arrives (around the last day of the transformation 30/08), it makes it that little bit easier to feel more like me again, then thats enough for me Smiling
I want to donate a prize to the booty at the end for the winner... was thinking an Intimo voucher to $100, the winner can choose something to that value? Let me know if we are able to do that..
Thanks and Regards,
Sez x

Off the top of my head one thing 12 weeks means to me is 12 kilos gone. That will be a good dent.

I bought some ricotta the other day but could not remember what for so I searched the Betalife Recipe Section and found the Zucchini Slice. I made this for my tea tonight (with some green vegies) and it was quite delicious. I added lots of mushrooms as well.

OK tomorrow is D start day...LOL mmmmm I needed a push and feel this will bring me back into line...Have strayed far from the Betalife principles over the past few weeks and in consequence my weight has started to go up not down....
(I promised myself i wouldn't do that ....but I have)

So I will weigh in tomorrow and measure etc....looking forward to having companionship with this goal, I would love to loose 12kgs but in reality I would be rapt in having 6 kgs - 10kgs be gone.

Nick's picture

I am even more excited this morning, have worked out that if I lose about .5kg each week I will reach my goal weight! thats easy right? Of course it is Smiling Will be having my omolete this morning to start my day. just a pity its a public holiday, cant start the challange with a work out Sad although could con my SIL into babysitting for an hour so I can go to the gym, just cant do pilates as there are no classes today.

WoW ! I am so excited by this challenge

What a great idea. Thank you Benny for setting this up on the Betalife web site.
I do have a suggestion for the prize. How would everyone taking part in the challenge about a $10 entry fee. Those who wish to and can afford to, can contribute more if they so desire.
We could send the money to the Betalife Team to hold in trust for the Prize at the end of the 12 weeks.
Depending on how much we can raise perhaps we can have a Major 1st prize and two small consolation prizes.
What does everyone think?

8th June 2009 - BMI 51.1

GOOD LUCK everyone.

I just want to know , do we need to post our before picture with a dated news paper?

I have printed out the next 3 months calendar and put them up on the wall, and everyday I will mark off the date, and the activity I did on the day, so I can see how much exercising I am doing , and for motivation, as well I will put my measurements up every Monday so I can see it.
This is what I did for my 12 week body blitz challenge, and it really does keep me motivated, especially when I see the days slowly getting marked off.
Thank you Beta life for this challenge.

I have a question.
If my friend decides to start a week or two late, is this ok?
as she does not know of this challenge yet.

Chris.

I would be happy with your idea to donate some money.
It should "not" be compulsory, we don't want anyone to miss this challenge for that reason.
Perhaps those that choose to send money for the prize could do it anonymously, guess I am trying to say nobody but the Betalife team will know who donates. Another "mystery" prize?

Wai's picture

I am soo excited about this challenge, will be posting before photos shortly along with weight etc.

Nick's picture

It seems like this challange has dragged a few others out of hiding which is fantastic! It is good to hear everyones enthusiasm for this. We will all be looking good by the end of it.

Gail's picture

Well, I took the plunge and sent in my photos for Week 1. I did a Nick to show off my body and boy, what a body? I was not pleased but can still say that I am happy about the fact that I have lost 7.2kg in the past 6 weeks so after another 12 weeks I should be looking a lot better.
I just took a deep breath and did it.
I am game - are you?

Online midwife

Hi Sez x
I am a midwife, congratulations on the pregnancy.
If you need any advice about pregnancy or birthing,
let me know. Is this ur first....eat well and stay healthy.
You need to eat the calories for one person but the nutrients for two. Its all about quality foods not quantity.

JellyC55's picture

Gail the weightloss you have had over the past 6 weeks is great... I feel very remiss in not keeping up with my own program....

This 12 week program has given me the boost to restart....

JellyC55's picture

Gymrat sounds like a great idea.!!!
I did something similar with exercise,
water consumed ( I need to keep at that in the colder weather)
Food consumed....
Current weight and measurements.

DVD

Today I invested in a dance workout dvd. I had a look at today and it looks like a great workout but a fun one Laughing out loud. This will be a big help with the challenge.
I decided I would get one as it is hard for me to go walking in the winter weather as most days its too cold to take Kingston out with me. I havent actually tried it yet but i will do tomorrow and if i like it I might even invest in more.

Week 1

We will be announcing the challenge prize soon, so look out for that.

It is not too late to join, just add your BMI as a comment to the "weigh-in" forum topic.

Gymrat, your friend can still join, the earlier you start the better of course. And recording BMI is enough, but photos and measurements will definitely help your chances of success, as you know! See the separate photo topic if you want to send photos, date/newspaper not necessary as we will consider many things in judging the winner, but photos and measurements may possibly help!

Gail Weight and Measurements Week 1

Well, here goes!!

Starting out 8 June at

BMI 35.5
Weight 86.4kg
Bust - 111
Waist - 103
Hips - 123
Thighs - 63

Wai's picture

I tried out the dance workout DVD today, (which I mentioned earlier) and I must say that for a beginners workout it was pretty intense. Once I got warmed up and into co-ordination it turned out to be really good fun workout. Kingston had a ball watching me make a fool of myself. He kept chuckling at all my moves.

I will definitely look into getting some more in the future as its a great way to get my exercise in along with indoor netball.

Photo Comments

I got this message below and added my reply.
I have the greatest admiration for you Gail & all the others, showing their photos. if I feel better at the weekend, I will get a friend to take some of me...can't promise if I will show them.....will have to see how they turn out
Thanks Juno
I was totally disgusted when I saw my photo but decided that by putting it up it will hold me accountable and I have to make a change. That is what I am aiming for. I probably got more of a shock because I am used to looking in a small mirror which only really shows from the waist up.

Good Start

Well week 1 is almost over and i must say that it has got off to a good start.
My eating was really good although I did have one off day, but i didnt let that get me down.

As for exercise I am so proud of myself. I managed to do exercise for 5 out of the 7 days. I had indoor netball for 2 of them and the other 3 days I did my new dance workout dvd. My muscles are feeling it but I know it'll get easier and at least its exercise that i actually enjoy.

Lets hope the remaining 11 weeks can be just as good, if not better.

Nick's picture

I am ashamed to say I have not been good at all this week Sad my eating has been... well not necessarily bad but its bad when you eat too much! soooo much bread, risottos, pasta... not bad in small doses but definatly bad when you eat lots of it. I really want to get to the gym so hopefullly my doctor gives me some advice tomorrow on what i could do. might have to stop the weights and just do cardio so as not to aggrivate my mid section. its not the best time to avoid weights though, now that my weight is almost where i want it to be i want to work on firming everything up. will see how i go tomorrow, if my doctor calls early enough i might get to the gym in the afternoon for a jog on the treadmil.

Liz K's picture

Well I started off this week with good intentions but have had quite a blow out! Oh well, tomorrow is another day.
My plan now is to MAKE time for myself and go for a walk/ride twice a day.
So tomorrow morning I'll have to be brave and get out of bed at 5.30am .... I just hope it's not too cold! I always feel so much better when I get out of bed early anyway it's just that since having a bub I've really made sleep a priority to exercise! Tomorrow I'd love to go for a bike ride, which could be a bit scary considering I haven't been on a bike since....ummmm.ummm...can't actually remember that one. There's a few hills on our gravel roads here so it might test me out a bit!
I'm feeling positive that I can achieve my goals of a new and healthy me. Slow and steady wins the race is what they all say. Laughing out loud

Just starting challenge now - a week late

Hi all
I've just posted my BMI etc on the week 2 page and well, this is the worst I've ever been and I'm totally ashamed that I've let myself go like this Sad I revisited this site about 3 months ago thinking I was going to get back into it, however after a death in the family, moving house, and rumours about losing our jobs I've managed to pack on another 5 kilos. Hopefully this challenge will help make me accountable. I don't need a prize I just need help.
Ever since the new website was built (yeah I know, a long long time ago) I find I can't get into it as much. I find it difficult to find things, I've never blogged in my life so I have no idea about that and I'm also not the type of person to sit on a computer for any length of time. What I need to do is familiarise myself with the recipes and start from there. Oh yeah, and try not to eat so much.

Juno's picture

Photos!

I have done it, I can't believe I have !!
Now I really have to work hard to make drastic changes, like a facelift to start with Eye-wink

Nick's picture

I have just emailed in my photos as well, you have all seen my front on pic but decided to add the side on one as well. hopefully regually seeing it will keep me motivated.

Me too

Hi,
Just reading your note and it sounds the same as me! I bought the beta life program a few years ago and lost 20kg. Have piled it and then some more back on again now and have been visiting the site on and off for a while. Am really going to commit to it this time!

Wai's picture

A new DVD

Today I received another Dance/workout DVD which I bought off trade me. This one is a hiphop one which i'm finding quite hard but still fun.
Since starting these kinds of dance workouts I have actually been looking forward to doing my exercise for the day. I'm hoping that with a differnet variety of these DVDs i shall stick to it. Eventually I might start to get fit enough to attempt a jog/run around the block. That may even be a goal to work towards before the end of the challenge.
