What Exercise Activites Have You Been Doing Recently?

Kellie's picture

I love finding out the different types of exercise people keep up with or even something they've only started recently. It gives us an idea of the range we can all work around and also what views other people have on the different activities.

After Renee's post regarding the types we did as children it made me think how different it is now that we've grown up. Would you do those things again if you could? etc

So what do you make time to do for exercise and how much do you enjoy it?

Well seeing as I didn't put my own down I thought I'd better contribute more than asking the question Smiling

Since April I've been going to the gym, started at 3 times a week, dropped to 2 times a week to put in more cardio than weights, however about 4 weeks back I bumped it back up to 3 times a week and I look forward to going now compared to 2 years back. I actually crave the gym at times.

I've also recently bought a bike so have been going for a good ride a couple of times a week at least. Got the treadmill at home I try to get on a couple of times a week and since last week I've been walking at lunch time with my cousin (at least 3 times).

So that works out to be:

Mon, Wed & Fri - Gym + sometimes a lunch time walk
Tues, Thurs, Sat & Sun - Treadmill or bike ride + sometimes lunch time walk

i have been going to the gym the past year as my exercise, but i also go for walks as well. Recently i have started to try pilates. I also enjoy swimming, found it a bit hard to do regular when i moved for uni but when i'm at my parents and weather is nice i can go swimming whenever i feel like it! When i was younger i used to compete in dancing and athletics and i'm actually going to get back into athletics in the next couple of weeks so that should be interesting!

Hi Kellie,

As a child, I was the one nobody wanted in their team. I was a skinny little runt with absolutely no esteem and no co-ordination.

However I discovered squash as a teenager. I took to it like a duck to water, and played competition till I was 50. I also discovered that I was a distance runner and finished quite a few half-marathons in OK times.

Then my back, hips and knees caused me a lot of pain, so all sport, (even walking) was abandoned for 5 years, till now.

So now, I love walking and more walking. I also have a circuit set up at home using swiss ball, medicine ball, resistence tubing, aerobic step, dumbells, and eliptical crosstrainer . I have eased myself into this programme very slowly with the help of a paid personal trainer.

As I am still injury and pain free after 6 months, I am graduating to pinweighted equipment. Yesterday I joined Contours Ladies Fitness Group. I took a 12 month contract to ensure I attend.

I have no more weight to lose, however strength is important so resistence training is essential.

I will post updates occasionally on my progress with Contours.

I love my walking, usually go for 50min each day and feel so refreshed.
I was really enjoying doing my fat burner dvd until I landed myself in hospital.
Swimming used to be my prefered choice a few years ago but now that I have a baby its to hard to do that

Hi Kellie
I am just sticking with my walking. Athough I do love it and being in the country it is just lovely walking down the road listening to the birds and insects.

I like swimming but don't have much time to do it .I have to find time though.

Different forms of exercise I have been doing lately

I have been really enjoying my mini trampoline lately, especially since it has been raining and cold. I leave it behind the couch, so whenever I am sitting around doing nothing I can just pull it out, crank up the music and do five minutes on it.

The other thing that is sitting there waiting to be used is a Tai Chi DVD that I pulled off the bookshelf on the weekend. I'll let you know how it goes! Smiling
