What sports or fitness did you enjoy as a child?

Betalife's picture

When I think back to myself as a child, it always marvels me to think about how many sports or activities I was involved in. I was always running off to ballet and tap classes, swimming in our pool, riding my bike, playing tennis or netball. And it was all so much fun!

As adults, we seem to forget the fun component of fitness. But it doesn't have to be like that! Have a think about what you loved doing as a child. Was there something you were good at that you haven't dared to try since? Or do you still have a burning desire to try something else out? Maybe you always dreamt of being an ice-skater, but never even made it to the ice rink!

So tell us, what sports or fitness did you enjoy as a child? Have you ever considered taking it up again as an adult? And what "fun" sports can you add to your fitness regime?

In Primary School I enjoyed all our sports classes and when they had those school comps (between 2 or 3 schools) I always played volleyball.

In High School I played saturday Netball for a couple of years, still wanted to after that but they hiked the prices up. I also enjoyed the sports classes then too, especially the olympic type games (for our sports carnival) and gymnastics. I could never climb up that rope though LOL

I also enjoyed rollerblading as a kid and quite often went down to the ferry terminal cause they had smoother places to ride.

In primary school I played netball and was good at it, until my knee started dislocating so i had to stop. I did a fair bit of running around and riding my bike as we lived in country towns while I was little but as a teenager we moved to the sunshine coast and sports went out the window, i even found ways to get out of sports days at school which i now regret

Whilst we lived in the Tropics I lived in the water. Absolutely loved swimming and used to come pretty close to the native kids too. Also used to play a lot of rounders.
I love my walking now.

As a child I think I was always on the go doing something or other. I used to play club softball and also athletics for both club and school and I was very good back then. Laughing out loud

How often I have looked back and wondered why I ever stopped running. I guess it was taken over by dating, wedding, babies, school duties, my own childrens' sporting events and the list goes on..... Sticking out tongue

I was very lucky to have parents who not only encouraged sport as part of our lives but also didn't mind giving up weekends to drive us around to different sporting events. Running is out for me now, at least until I lose some weight as it would blow my BP out of the water and I am not sure my doctor would like that. *lol*

I will just have to stick to walking for now. Smiling

Once i hit my thirties i stopped playing netball and tennis.I just couldnt seem to find the time any more or the drive.
I dont think my poor knees could take playing netball or tennis again.
