What's on your Chrissy dinner/lunch menu this year?

V's picture

Hi Guys,

I've volunteered to cook the family Christmas lunch this year and have started trawling through websites and cook books gathering ideas for my 'healthy festive menu' - but I thought it'd be interesting to see what everyone else was going to be putting in their Chrissy spread; does anyone have any favourite Betalife friendly recipes that will be featuring on their Christmas menus this year?

Whoa sounds like no shortage of variety at your place! Laughing out loud

That sounds like a nice idea, you can't really beat a good bbq can you, especially when you can pre-chop everything and throw it together at the last minute - it's a good idea Smiling

Thanks Gail; I'm lucky in that no one in my family seems to have a sweet tooth, so I don't have to worry about desserts and things, thank goodness! One less thing to think about hehe.

This year (so far) we're having a nice relaxing BBQ at home, Dad will be on call so we can't actually go anywhere but thats fine with me Smiling We've got Lily and William across the road so there'll be lots of fun.

The good with it just being small is that I won't have to make sweets so won't be going overboard on the food.

V - have you seen the Coles mag yet?? They have the most gorgeous little deserts on the front cover. It has pastry cups, cream, custard, mixed berries and icing sugar for dusting they'd be so yummy.

My family always have a big fruit platter with every available fruit in it. Lunch we have roast beef, pork, lamb, ham with salads and vegies of every variety- mostly cooked healthy but its never cooked with the plan of being healthy, just for the taste. Its just a pity my family is all doing there own things this year- unfortunatly i dont have another half to go with so am visiting neighbours for a BBQ lunch

Hi Valerie
I expect that it will be pretty hot here this year for Christmas so am planning to have cold meat, prawns and salad. I also expect to be having that in the air conditioning. We may just have a few friends for lunch so it won't be a big affair. I am more interested in the company rather than the food.
If you are looking for a sweet dish why not try the Almost Chocolate Mud Cake? The Betalife Beetroot Cake is very delicious as well. It has not yet been put up in the recipes but you will find the recipe in the Blogs.
