A Bit Quiet....

Have been a bit quiet the last week or so.....and probably will be for a wee while yet.

My beloved brother has just been diagnosed and had surgery for an extremely rare and quite nasty  form of cancer - it's hard to believe yet another cancer episode in my already  way over-crowded cancer book.  So we start the journey again - if positive attitude is a factor (and I strongly believe it is) then he will beat it hands down.

He's in rural NSW, and the team looking after him are bringing in the big guns from Prince of Wales hospital in Sydney, so after Googling all the players, I am confident he is in the best of hands.  I have also been talking to the universe long into the night.  I have bags under the bags under my eyes.......

Now all I have to do is take my own advice, do the tears in private and just be the person he wants me to be, to talk as much or as little about the cancer as he wants, and if it all goes pear-shaped, be prepared to let him talk about death and dying without running away or "not knowing what to say".  And also be there for his family, whom I also love very much.  God knows, I've had enough practice, but with this very special person, it's going to be harder than ever before.

Thanks to the BL person who has been such a private comfort and support - you know who you are!

And well done to all you Challengers - haven't been leaving comments (cos this is one of those times when I'm not able to be smart or funny), but have been watching your progress - you are all just amazing.

Oh my God

Oh dear PJ,
So sorry that this kind of burden has to be endured by your family, and it seems you have had similar excursions down this path.. We all feel for you and I will include him in my prayers and thoughts. I wish you the strength to be able to be there for him and his family, so that you can have peace of mind in the future...

May his big C become a little c and then disappear...poof !!

I wish I was closer to give you a hug...love Janet

Hi Jenny, Im so sorry to hear about your brother. I too have a long family history of cancer, I lost my mother to cancer when I was 2 years old and a lot of my family on my mothers side have suffered from cancer too.
My thoughts and prayers will be with you both, and I'll be hoping for the best.

Dear PJ, Thinking of you, at this very difficult time.
My thoughts & prayers are with everyone connected to this very sad event. I believe in miracles, they happen every day, impossibilities take just a little longer.
I hope we hear very soon of some positive results of this
operation, & may your brother have a very quick & speedy recovery.
Peace, Love & Healing. jx

Hi piratejenny
You will do it because you are you. We don't know where the strength comes from. It will be a strain on you but here's hoping that this new treatment that they have with the chemo to treat only the site of the cancer can be used and will work and he will survive.
I do not believe that all things happen for a reason. There is no good reason for this. I will be thinking of you.

I have had a few family members go through cancer and thankfully they have all survived. my uncle had severe skin cancer and had to have his ear removed as a result, but thankfully has been cancer free for some time now. He now has this amazing view on life, he believes it happened for a reason- even if it was just to teach us young ones a lesson on sun safety.
The point is, positive attitudes can do amazing things to our bodies, it is just a lesson in life and the more you question the lesson the harder it is to fight. Be there for your brother the best you can, sounds like you know what you need to do.
and dont worry about not being funny or bubbly, we all have moments where we need chearing up and thats fine, dont be afraid to comment just because you cant think of a funny comment

Hi PJ, I am so sorry to hear of your brother's sickness. Cancer is a horrible horrible illness and I will be praying for you both daily. I can't imagine how it must feel for you and your family right now but I know that you will be a wonderful support to your brother.

I really believe in miracles....I will be praying and believing for complete healing for your brother, for wisdom for his doctor's and for peace, comfort and hope for his loved ones.

Take care Jenny.
