Jennifer Lopez on the difficulties and triumphs of falling pregnant

I am a huge fan of Jennifer Lopez. She is an incredibly talented woman who shows courage and determination in all aspects of her life, and somehow manages to just ooze with glamour.

Having achieved success as a dancer, actress, singer and businesswoman, Jennifer recently embarked on her most accomplished journey – becoming a mother to twins Max and Emme.

Jennifer has also managed to celebrate her curves, despite years of focus from the Size 0 hungry media. In fact, Donatella Versace even said “She’s got an amazing sense of what looks good on her, and she knows how to highlight all of her best assets in the most natural way.”

Jennifer brings that glamour to the latest cover of Elle Magazine. And with that, she shares some honest accounts of the difficulties they had falling pregnant. So often, celebrities “act” their way through life, never showing their human side. But Jennifer gives us a very realistic look into the journey - here are some highlights:

On trying to fall pregnant:

The pregnancy itself was a surprise, as the couple had all but given up on the possibility of having children. They had wanted to start a family as soon as they got married in 2004, she says, “then it just didn’t happen.”

On being patient:
Lopez says that they never pursued in vitro fertilization. “We knew nothing was wrong with either one of us—I had been checked, and he had kids already,” she says. “I knew, Something’s not ready here, in my head or in my life, and when it is, I know it’s going to happen.”

On realizing she was pregnant after three years of trying:
“I was sitting down doing hair and makeup,” she says, “and I felt a flutter. The weirdest little…flourish. My makeup artist said, ‘What’s the matter?’ I didn’t say anything, but in my head, I was like, I have life inside me!”

On being a mother:
“I don’t know if I’m going to have kids again, so I want it to be a beautiful experience. I don’t want to have any drama. I want to just be smiling every day."
