Description

When you have been through surgery or had an injury it can be difficult to get back on track and live the healthy life you would like to. Getting support from others going through the same thing is a great help, at least you know you're not alone.

I will be having surgery on he 24th September and have a long road to recovery afterwards- I dont know what to expect or how long it will take but I know that with the support from other betalife members I will get there.

So if you have had surgery and are recovering or due to have surgery then join the group and get that support you need.

OMG I have not had to deal with gastro type problems in so so long- have forgotton how inconvenient it is. having an iliostomy had its bonuses but when i weigh it all up i still prefer going without it- gastro and all.

Had my final doctors appointment yesterday and was given the all clear- no more doctors for me! I can now start to increase my exercise and should not have any more problems.
I will move forward with my life from today.

Good luck with anyone who will be going through some kind of recovery. I will regually check to see if there are any blogs so always feel free to message me and i will try to support you down the journey of recovery.

Am back to walking every day and am loving it- have a new energy that is keeping me positive.
There is absolutly no pain now and the scar is healing really well, just a nice pink line that am sure will fade and wont be so noticable

The last 2 days I have been walking as normal, for 50min around my usual track which has felt great. I am feeling like I could push myself more but I have to remind myself that I am still recovering and until I see the specialist on the 30th I cant do anything more than the walking.
I really dont have any pain anymore, only if i sneeze to many times (had a sneeze attack yesterday). So I no longer feel like I am still recovering but I think my stomach muscles are still weak so there is still that risk of a hernia if i overdo it.

For the first time in almost 2 years I slept on my stomach last night! it felt so good but unfortunatly by the time i woke up at midnight i was feeling sore so will give it a few more days before i try that again.
Am starting to feel almost normal again which is great, alot sooner than i expected. I am very unfit though, after a 20min walk this morning i was exhausted.

Its been just over 2 weeks since my surgery and am starting to feel like myself. The day I got out of hospital I was feeling better but could not cough or sneeze without doubling over in pain. I travelled strait to Glen Innes from the hospital and the trip was painful- had a pillow over my stomach to hold it steady and could not wear a seat belt. After one week I was walking better, felt like i could stand up strait finally but still got tired quickly. It has only been in the last few days that i have managed to sneeze without much pain, still get a slight twinge but can put up with that. The hard part is avoiding lifting, especially now that i am home, with a small child around lifting is unavoidable. Am trying to remember to bend at the knees and lift instead of using mystomach muscles which are still basically useless lol.
Tomorrow i will start walking in the mornings again which i am looking forward to, will take it easy so will only go for about 15min to start with.
I go back to the doctor on the 30th for my checkup, should be the last time i see him Smiling
so doing well, still a long road until back to complete normal but am getting there

Well its Sunday, today and tomorrow I need to get everything organised as on Tuesday I will be fasting and would like to concerve my enery so wont be doing much. I am nervouse about the surgery but am also excited about having my body back- forgotten what thats like! Its been 2 years almost since I fell pregnant so almost 2 years since I had my body all to myslef and working normally.
The thing I am most looking forward to in actually sleeping on my stomach again- strainge but thats what I want more than anything else. I used to sleep that way every night but stopped when pregnant and have not been able to do it with the stoma. So once I am healed i will get a great night sleep again Smiling
