Description

Hello

I suffer Psoriasis quite badly. With the lack of funds in the skin disorder research facility of Australia, there is no known cure for any of the following disorders. If anyone has successfully beat any of these skin problems please join this group as we could help each other greatly. Some certain foods and ways of changing things can make a difference. These skin disorders can be quite depressing to the sufferer and makes us feel unattractive and left with a sense that people are" looking". So please share your stories, together we may be able to make some difference to someone somewhere. Awareness is the key issue. If people were educated on these disorders then the sufferers would feel no indifferences. If you have successfully controlled any of the above then a shared idea could be the next cure. Thanks and have a wonderful day Smiling

wow, sorry to hear that you have it bad. I used to have it bad but I have maintained it at the moment. Definately shift to natural products as it really does help, and stay well moisturised. I also have 20mls of UDO's oil in a smoothie, which is a 3,6,9 omega blend and that too has cleared it up, while also making my hair shiny!

I also suffer from psoriasis, but rather unusually my outbreaks have always been on the hairless parts of my body - ie on my palms and the soles of my feet. Outbreaks on the soles of my feet have always been very debilitating as even after the problem has finally cleared up, my feet remained very tender for a couple of years. Luckily it's been several years since I had a major outbreak.

During one really bad outbreak my specialist put me on a particular antibiotic usually used to treat some type of std which I found extremely embarassing. He wanted me to take two courses of it, but I had to stop after a few days as they made me retain water so badly that none of my clothes or shoes would fit at all.

My minor outbreaks have been helped by sunshine, saltwater and relaxation techniques to reduce stress. I also think moving to natural cleaning products helped.

What sort of treatments have you tried?

ouchies- that sounds painful. And i did know cause where I do have it really hurts when it's bad. The elocon cream is by far the best, be consistent, and keep well moisturised. Elocon cream is a cortisone though so should be used sparingly and needs dr prescription.

Hi Bek! I have psoriasis/dermatitis spongiatic form! Yes it's a long phrase which means basically I get psoriasis in a round shape! I have had it since I was little. All through primary school I wore bandages on my lower left limb because nothing would fix it. Eventually my nanna came across an article in The Courier Mail when I was in grade 7 (1993), and I finally got help! ($1000's of dollars later), the specialist was awesome! It can be quite embarassing. I had teacher's saying "Your school sores look bad!" or telling kids, not to go near my legs! I think back now and think how sad I felt when they did that.

Anyways I mainly get it on my lower limbs, usually my left leg, but I have a small one on my right limb at the moment which is hard to get rid of.

I use "Elocon" cream, a prescription from the Dr.
Everyday I use natural products and keep my skin well moisturised. I use LUSH products. So a "Skinny Dip" butter cream, and I usually lather "Palmer's Cocoa Butter on."

My nephew has a rare skin disorder (can't think of the name), but he produces too much skin! I feel sorry for the poor thing. At the moment it looks good, but on a really bad day, It looks like he has really bad sunburn! He's still cute though Smiling
