Does anyone else find this tough going????
Let's share the "how to's" of realising a happy blended home....if you have any hints and tips...or just want to get things off your chest....this is the spot.
No judgements....just support....80% of blended marriages WILL fail....maybe we can stem the haemoraging here with help , guidence and love.
Blended kids....tell us what you want...remember, everyone just wants to be happy.

Hi Susie

I have been in paradise. My step daughter has been "house sitting" with a friend for the last three weeks. Even my husband has noticed how peaceful, clean, less tension, etc!

When she comes home, he says that he is going to suggest that she move out on her own (I guess he likes the honeymoon stage Evil )!

Will let you know how it goes!

Still no go with the step daughters Evil Evil Evil ....I am well and truly wiped...but I tell you what, since they have been out of 'our' life....and only see their Dad....our marriage has been so much better!
He is no longer worried about them finding out that he actually loves my daughters and grandchildren....he is even called Poppa now!

Major vent: Why is it that some weeks its like an alien has come down and abducted said teenager and injected them with nasty hormones..... I swear....." UGHHH!

I am just staying out of her way this weekend - me and my hubby both! As much as I am really trying (took her shopping and bought her a coat for $100.00), then she turned around and said she wanted boots. She is working full time and over 18! All she seems interested in are her friends and where the biggest party is!

OK, just hold your breath and calm down!

I am sure that this too will pass. (I hope it does anyway)

Hi Susie,

Talk to hubby first. It is important that he understands how you feel, how their treatment of you and him, makes you feel, that you care about them because they are important to him, but you are his life partner and need his support. See if he can come up with some suggestions that might work.

Good luck. It is a tough, thankless job.

Hope you had a good time...

No haven't had the talk yet..the girls Evil live all over the country.

It would have to be planned well ahead of time...

I just don't know if my Hubby has the strength against them to stand behind me...and that would be just too awful if he couldn't... Barf! Barf!

Dunno what to do.... Puzzled

Sorry Susie - I have been away for 10 days and just back today.

I think the round table chit chat sounds like a good idea, but you need to have a plan before hand and hubby has to back you up! It is really important that the girls see the pair of you as being united and that is how you are going to stay.

If you have had the chit chat, how did it go?

It's tough! But I am sure it will be worth it in the end!

I absolutely adore my step-father and am closer to him than to my own father!
